What is generative AI, and why does it matter for your learning?

This workshop offers a grounded introduction to generative AI: what it is, where it came from, and how it works, alongside an honest look at the issues, concerns, and considerations that come with it.

Rather than diving straight into tools and tips, this session takes a step back to build the foundational understanding you need to engage with GenAI thoughtfully and critically.

In this workshop, we’ll cover and discuss:

  • What generative AI is and how it works
  • The history and development of GenAI technologies
  • Key issues, risks, and ethical concerns
  • Important considerations for responsible use
  • How GenAI might support your own learning goals

For this workshop, you will need a laptop, tablet or phone.
