Course overview
In this course, you鈥檒l develop a strong understanding of human sexuality. It is ideal for students who have a health or education background and who want to expand their skill sets to challenge shame, stigma and discrimination relating to sexual health.
You'll learn important foundational concepts, theories and frameworks related to human sexuality, and be given an opportunity to consider your own attitudes and values.
You鈥檒l also customise your course to suit your interests, choosing two optional units from the following topics: sexological education, sexual and reproductive health, forensic sexology, culture and contemporary sexology, sexological practice and sexology challenges and opportunities.

Professional accreditation and recognition
Graduates may be eligible for membership of the (SAS), which is a member of the . You may obtain a specialist title as a psychosexual therapist or sexuality educator from SAS after completing the additional accreditation requirements. The requirements to use these titles in other countries may differ.

Entry requirements
Applicants for a Graduate Certificate are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate. Students without a degree from a recognised tertiary institution must have at least three years work experience in a relevant field OR may be asked to undertake additional study in their first semester that will be set on a case-by-case basis (e.g. Post Entry Language Assessment or other university online modules). Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met. Ideally, applicants require a recognised degree in one of the health professions, social work or welfare studies, psychology, theology, education, behavioural sciences, including sociology, anthropology or biological sciences or related areas. Applicant interviews will be conducted where required.
