This exhibition brings together 49 artists to consider how regional communities imagine, make and care for the future. Their works reflect the specific conditions of place while also speaking to broader questions about how we live together, care for the environment and respond to an increasingly uncertain world.

The Regional Arts Triennial is a statewide program held every three years that celebrates the artists, stories and cultural voices of regional Western Australia while building connection, visibility and opportunity for regional arts communities.

Lester Prize highlight!听馃帹鉁�
听
Congratulations to first-year Fine Art student听Lily Wilson-Nannup, whose portrait听鈥楳y memory of my Lolo鈥� has been selected as a finalist in the 2026 Lester Prize.
听
A deeply personal work born from Lily鈥檚 love for her grandmother, the portrait reflects on memory, family and the enduring influence of an extraordinary Noongar woman.
听
Lily鈥檚 grandmother was a printmaker, artist and 红桃视频 Fine Arts alumna, and is a significant voice in Stolen Generations truth-telling.
听
鈥淪he may not look the same as she once was but, in my head, when I look at her, I still see my Lolo.鈥� –听Lily Wilson-Nannup
听
Lily describes the fading background of the painting as a suggestion of memory, while placing her grandmother centre stage as a creative, strong, and proud Noongar woman.
听
The 2026 Lester Prize Main Awards exhibition will be presented at WA Museum Boola Bardip from听10 October 鈥� 29 November 2026.
听

An electrifying declaration of Aboriginal presence, pride and cultural authority.听 馃憦

Presented together at John Curtin Gallery,听OA_RR (2016鈥�17) and听Initiation OA_RR (2021) combine movement, sound and visual performance to explore ancestry, memory and the ongoing strength of Aboriginal identity.
听
In听OA_RR, Rennie drives a hand-painted 1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche across Country, its camouflage design drawing from Kamilaroi diamond patterns. The work reflects on the legacy of colonisation, honouring his grandmother while asserting the continuing presence and resilience of Aboriginal culture.
听
In听Initiation OA_RR, a metallic pink Holden Monaro moves through the working-class landscapes of Melbourne鈥檚 west, drawing connections between drag-racing culture, personal history and contemporary interpretations of First Peoples鈥� initiation practices.
听
Together, these works blur the boundaries between street performance and ceremony, transforming cars into symbols of memory, belonging and cultural authority.
听
Reko Rennie: OA_RR is on show at John Curtin Gallery until 23 August.
